    Little Rock

It was nine months, anticipation of a new life
Settle into a new home with my old friend, my new wife
    Prenatal conversations underneath the moonlight
Create the perfect reincarnation of D Bright

A Lullaby every evening to stimulate your mental
    MP3 heavenly played soft instrumentals
As I reminisce with my pen, you should have seen my eyes when
I knew you were strong because you kicked like Ninja Gaiden*

I was at the doctor’s office and began this soliloquy
Possibly a few issues, A complicated delivery
I wasn’t worried because your birth would complete the trilogy
I trust in medicine but my faith endures biblically

Prepare for and expect the best, for what it’s worth
Your bedroom was finished three months before your birth
Received love from our families, never did the drought hit
Gifts in abundance, your closet full of outfits

I thought about my friends who weren’t ready or willing
Never witnessed the development of their children
They say it’s not an issue, I know that’s a lie
A hole in their soul big enough to drive a semi

November 4th 2:27 in the afternoon
A child so precious came forth from the Womb
Your lungs filled with oxygen and cleared out the room
Singing a song unknown, but I enjoyed the tune

Your mother displayed courage, we will never drift apart
Sacrifice and valor, she deserves a purple heart
Nurses took care of you, gave you a naked rinse
I knew you were special because they brought myrrh and frankincense

You are a piece of my heart, not yet tattered or bruised
I will give my full support whatever route you choose
As long as I breathe, no one will dishonor thee
You can enjoy athletics or excel in Astronomy

Fresh out of the gate six pounds ounces eight
Facial features a perfect blend of two soul mates
The economy is down but I found joy in the aftermath
I went to work this morning clutching your photograph

In a life of monotony it was hard to maintain
But when my dreams began to smolder you rekindled the flame
Unaware of your strength, welcome home son
Beneath the Sun a new chapter has begun.

    D Bright, M. HR, CPP
